A wonderful New Year to you all. Luckily, we were able to catch up with the amiable, down-to-earth, prolific CEO of Ken Jewel Productions, Kenechi Okafor. Excerpts
from the sessions below;
Naijaspiration: Glad to have u again on Naijaspiration. We noticed a change of name in your productions, what brought about it?
Kenechi Okafor: (Laughs) Yes, I changed my name from Ken Jewel Okafor to Kenechi Okafor .My family and concerned relatives didn't like the fact that I dropped my native name "Kenechukwu", so I had to listen to them especially my mum. And I am happy with the changes. Kenechi is the abridged form of Kenechukwu.
Naijaspiration: As the CEO of Ken Jewel Productions, what has your Production been up to in recent times?
Kenechi Okafor: Well, we have been really working hard to please viewers and they should be highly expectant because we have blockbusters for them. There's 'My College Love 1 & 2', featuring Emeka Enyiocha, Harry B, Williams Uchembah, Kenechi Okafor and Chineye Uyanna.
Just recently, I concluded a movie production for Ken Simon Productions titled 'Azuka Nwa Aba', its an Igbo movie, very funny and interesting. Featuring Francis Duru, Prince Nwafor, Leo Ewuzie, Kenechi Okafor and Chinwe Issac.
Naijaspiration: How have you been able to handle acting and producing together?
Kenechi Okafor: Its been very challenging, but I try as much as possible to give each side maximum effort and attention.
Naijaspiration: Are you in a relationship? What are the qualities u seek in your dream woman?
Kenechi Okafor: I'm currently single and searching. The lady must be a Christian. Well to make love healthy, I 'll look out for an industrious, supportive, smart and beautiful lady. A lady that has vision to reach, I love tall ladies.
Naijaspiration: So,there was this rumour about you dating an American lady,please confirm... Kenechi Okafor: Ohh! I never wanted to discuss about her in the media. But let me clear some things... Is it every woman a guy has a relationship with that constitutes dating? I guess not. She is just a good friend of mine. I like her, she likes me, that's all.
Naijaspiration: Which artistes have you worked with so far, and who do you look forward to working with?
Kenechi Okafor: I have worked with Chioma Chukwuka, Patience Ozokwor, Chiwetalu Agu, Francis Duru, Uche Odoputa, Emeka Enyiocha, Obi Okoli, Prince Nwafor and so many others. Well, I will love to work with Sam Dede, Omotola Jalade, Nse Ikpe Etim and Femi Jacobs.
Naijaspiration: Last time we had a dialogue, Omotala Ekeinde was your crush, any changes? Kenechi Okafor: (Laughs) Asking of who my current crush in the entertainment industry is, I would say Tonto Dike ...I chose her because I love her 'crazy' life style. She is adorable.
Naijaspiration: Any final words for your fans?
Kenechi Okafor: For all my fans, I say a very big thank you. Each day, I grow better knowing that you guys are always there for me... Be expectant, 2015 is gonna be our year.
